It's time for another leadership change! Smiley

Actually, several of the town council positions have changed hands in the past several months, but a couple of us -- myself, reikja, and porcupine -- have been serving in our roles for over a year. Our treasurer, porcupine, will be away for two months so we need someone new in that role. If anyone wants to get involved with the council, or if any current members need a break, this is a great time to change things around. Yes, that includes those of you with aspirations to be the mayor! Smiley

There is a list of all the positions and their duties on the civics page of our web site. I used to think that the busiest person in town was the ambassador, but then I saw how involved in the BSW reeve system Jocelyn25 became while serving as our sheriff. She has since stepped back from trying to solve all the problems on BSW, Wink but it shows that serving on the town council can be a path to getting move involved in the whole BSW meta-game. That's not required or even expected of EC council members, just an opportunity. None of the positions require a lot of time, but it is helpful to be able to get on BSW at least a couple days each week to take care of tasks and be involved in discussions and planning.

If anyone who’s not currently on the town council is interested in serving, please add a post indicating what you’re interested in doing. For everyone who’s on the council, please add a post about whether you’d like to continue or take a break. For those who are willing to continue, please state which role(s) you’re interested in.

In case anyone isn't aware, each citizen can cast a vote each month for mayor. For example:
/vote SpongeBob
You can vote as many times as you like, but only your last one counts. Whoever has the most votes at the end of the month becomes the new mayor – whether he/she likes it or not. The new mayor then appoints the rest of the town council.

I'll get the flood of responses started.  Wink

I'm willing to continue as mayor, but if anyone else wants to take over, I'm happy to hand over the royal scepter, the keys to the Lamborgini, and the PIN to our bank account. Shocked If someone else becomes the mayor, I'm willing to serve in any town council position except I've already been the ambassador so I'd prefer something new. And if a plethora of munchkins are clamoring to serve, I'll take a break from the council and just play games. Smiley

I am also willing to continue as reeve, even though i cant invest as much time as i used to due to me moving soon and having some personal problems.

So if someone would like to experience the bsw fairness system i would go back to playing games for a while. I am not interested in another council job since it takes too much time and energy right now and the reeve is the best one anyway Wink.

If life is a game, God made it a quite complexe one. He must have had a hard time working it out. The big question is: if it IS a game, shouldnt we take the small things less serious and have some fun?

The town gave you a VW Polo? Is it a Mark IV? I was just kidding about the Lamborgini...I'm actually riding in a rickety wagon with a shot suspension pulled by a lame donkey with a bad attitude and a flatulence problem. Lips Sealed

The porcupine is primarily nocturnal and may rest by day. When threatened, the porcupine places its snout between its forelegs and spins around presenting its rear to the enemy.

Since Elttil already mentioned kicking me out, I happily hand in my resignation  Grin
I'm gone July 4th to August 31st so no sense keeping me on the council (or complete building stop during the summer). I assume that I will be happy to come back later on, but for now I wish the council good work and everyone a nice summer.

I'm willing to consider pretty much anything with the most likely scenarios seeming to be:

Remain Lagermeister (Warehouse Manager)
Try my hand at Ambassador
Take a break from the Council
Take over as Treasurer or Deputy Mayor

Foreman wouldn't be out of the question thought I do still enjoy running the mill and forge (I know ambassador can't either, but trading resources would more than make up for it Wink.

I'm not particularly interested in being Reeve (Chief of Security just doesn't have the right ring to it), and for whatever reason don't feel "ready" to take a turn as Mayor.

Elttil is not 'burned out' and he has been a great mayor, so Ambassador (or anything else) for me.  Cool

First of all, congratulations and thanks to Elttil and the current city council for the way they have been running things in the past few months. I have been away from the council for some time now, having been busy most of last year with non-BSW stuff, but now that I am back a bit more often, I guess I am still interested in taking part to the political life of EC and the deep and dark secrets of the city council (if there are still some).

From what I know about it, reeveing does not seem to be one my skills, nor would it be something I enjoy. Apart from this quite specific position, I could be interested in the others. I have been Ambassador before, in the early years of EC (but would not mind a break from weaving again), and have also spent some months as Mayor and Deputy. The other positions would be new to me, but I am ready to learn!

Whoever happens to be elected mayor, I am sure there will be competent munchkins to assist him/her. My main wish would be that some kind of US/Europe balance would be respected in the council, but I am confident this will be achieved somehow.

Esterio

PS: And if I am allowed a second wish regarding EC politics, it would be that more than 50% of the munchkins voted every month.

Also, I'm willing to keep my position if people are ok with how I am handling it.

PS: And if I am allowed a second wish regarding EC politics

It depends who granted you the wishes. Gods often grant one wish, whereas fairies have a general tendency to grant three.

Either you are one over or you still have one. If the latter is the case, I would suggest you use it to wish what position on the council you want...  Grin

DQ

P.S.: I think it is nice that you are ready to go back into EC politics.

I really don’t want to run against Elttil, because I think he has done a great job and I would likely continue many of his ideas forward.  However, the ‘voting for the lame donkey’ comment bothers me.  So, I’ll throw my hat into the ring, because a discussion of new ideas is always a good thing.  So I offer this as a general guide as the direction I would take EC as mayor…

•   I would look to keep EC as an international town where citizens don’t generally have to worry about the Meta-Game, unless they want too.
•   I think EC’s growth has been great for the town, but I would like to see it slow down a bit.  Also, we have added a lot of US players (which really was needed when I started in EC), but now I would like to make sure we keep that international flavor and make sure we strike a balance between US\Non-US players going forward.
•   I would like more focus on EC’s web site.  I think it is behind the times and would like to see more content added to it.  There is very little reason today to go to the site and I would like to change that.
•   I would like to build a castle in EC.  This has also long been an idea of Elttil as well and we are starting to get some ideas on how to best pay for it.  We would need some input on how much Munchkins might be willing to help pay for it, because it might well require some sacrifice on the town’s part to get the castle done quickly.  I'm not totally sold on building a castle, but really want to look into it.

As far as experience goes, I’ve served on the council since the Meta-Game changes and helped out on a number of behind the scenes projects.

If elected I would want to keep Elttil on the council since there is a number of ideas of his that I would want to finish and it is only right to keep Elttil a part of that.  If I’m not elected, I would be happy to continue to serve as Ambassador or any other role on the council, if needed.
